  • Welcome to The Combo Box

This is where you can access the entire catalog of drawing and painting classes with Katja.

With this set, you’ll get 23 drawing and painting classes, and a library of guidance and inspiration.

These slow drawing classes offer us an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the freedom and relaxation of drawing.

The Combo Box is an expressive space, and a space to play with art. It’s a place for experimentation, dreaming, and spreading your wings creatively. And I love getting to share my techniques and watch my students learn to do the same.

The Combo Box will show you how with a few materials you can create a beautiful, playful art practice that folds naturally into your life and fills you up.

The Combo Box is not about perfectionism or making museum worthy art – it’s an active and creative space. The Box offers a space to nurture yourself creatively, by giving you the tools and inspiration to develop a creative drawing practice.

A couple of quick points before you begin:

To be truly mindful, the process, not the end product, is all-important.

This is similar to the classic mantra of ‘the process is more important than the outcome.

Mindful drawing is a fantastic alternative to meditation because it stills your mind, improves

your focus and attention span, to make you happier and more productive. I’ll show you how.

This box is full of curated exercises to cultivate creativity and calm in your daily life.

Remember! There IS time for art in your life when you give yourself permission to make art because it makes you feel good.

  • How to continue cultivating creativity in your life in addition to the Combo Box?

    My 6 steps:

Gathering inspiration for art, in nature and in the world.

Reading books and magazines about art.

    Spending time making art.

Going on artist dates to create with friends.

Talking to artist friends about art.

    Going on art retreat.

    Slow down

  • The methods in The CombpBox are grounding, freeing, and playful!

This Combo Box is great for anyone looking for ways to draw and paint in fun and surprising ways in their art journals.

You will learn how to keep an art journal and a few supplies out on your table. When you walk by, it tempts you to spend at least a few minutes a day exploring the worlds that appear on the page, and figuring out what you really need and want in your life. It’s grounding, freeing, and playful.

The Combo Box is not art therapy. However, I use my understanding of psychology, mindfulness, and the artistic process to help students tune joyfully into the moment and engage in their art practice in deeper ways. Engaging in a mindful art practice, like any mindfulness or art practice, may have positive benefits for your overall sense of well-being.

This is a self-paced class with videos and a PDF. You can access them on the site whenever you want.
